SouthKorea promulgated the AI Basic Act on January 21, 2025, which is South Korea's first basic law that comprehensively regulates artificial intelligence, and will officially come into effect on January 22, 2026, aiming to establish a national AI governance structure and balance innovation and regulatory needs.

- governance structure: Establish a "National Artificial Intelligence Council", which is directly led by the president to coordinate AI policies and planning.
- Institutional construction: Establish an AI security research institute to be responsible for AI security technology research and development, risk monitoring and standard formulation.

TheMinistry of Science and ICT of South Korea is promoting the construction of a national AI supercomputing center, planning to obtain no less than 10,000 high-performance GPUs through public-private cooperation, and develop deepfake detection and digital watermarking technology to support AI security supervision.
